A Guide to Finding the Right Planner Page Size

Why does every planner system have to use a different size of paper? Unless you block out some time to really research every dimension, you could easily purchase the wrong size of refills.

This is why we made one major change to our planner sets for 2017. We now offer all sizes available in one set. If you purchase a meal planner, you will receive the same planner in an A4 size, Letter size, A5 size, and Mini Binder size. And, hopefully, we will only continue to add the sizes available.

Basic Sizes

Let's break down the standard page sizes with their dimensions.

• Letter: 8.5" x 11"

  • This is the paper size most widely used in the US. Almost every home printer in the US uses Letter sized paper.

• A4: 8.27" x 11.69"

  • This is the standard paper size in Europe and Asia. It is slightly taller than Letter, and just a little more narrow.

• A5: 5.8" x 8.5"

  • A European page size commonly used in the US, especially for planners. A Half Sheet size is also commonly used in its place, as half of a Letter paper is 5.5" x 8.5".

Beyond the Basic

Now let's take a look at more unusual page sizes. Some of these are specific to certain planner systems, and some just slightly more unusual than the basics. 

• Mini Binder: 6.375" x 8.375"

  • I began designing Mini Binder planner pages when I found a mini binder that I loved (Russell + Hazel), but needed pages slightly larger than the A5 pages commonly offered.

• A6: 4.1" x 5.8"

  • Many European planners are filled with A6 sized pages.

• Personal: 3.7" x 6.7"

  • This is based off the Filofax personal size, though many others use the same dimensions.

• Happy Planner: 7" x 9.25"

  • The Happy Planner, by Me and My Big Ideas (MAMBI), is sold on Amazon or in Michaels stores as a planner system.

• Kikki.k

  • Large: 6.3" x 8.46" (tip: our Mini Binder size fits well here)

  • Medium: 3.74" x 6.7" (tip: try swapping with a Personal size)

  • Small: 3.14" x 4.72"

• Pocket: 3.2" x 4.7"

  • Again, based off the Filofax System.

• Day Designer: 7.3" x 9.5"

• Day Designer Mini: 6" x 8.125"
